In the 46th Reliance Annual General Meeting (Reliance AGM 2023) held on 28 August 2023, Mukesh Ambani, the Chairperson of Reliance Industries, announced the launch of Jio AirFiber on Ganesh Chaturthi, 19 September 2023. At the time of his disclosure on the key achievements of AirFiber services, he said, “In just a few years, despite COVID-19 disruptions, JioFiber has crossed 10 million subscribers, each of whom consumes, on average, over 280 GB of data per month ─ which is over 10 times higher than our per-capita mobile data consumption”. Further, he added that his company will accelerate the expansion of Jio 10 times from 15 000 connections a day to 150 000 connections a day with the launch of Jio AirFiber.

Jio AirFiber - What Is IT?

As a new wireless internet service, Jio AirFiber gives high-speed internet connectivity with the use of 5G technology. As per this telecommunication company, the internet speed offered by Jio AirFiber will be higher in comparison with conventional fiber based optic connections. Users can get an internet speed of up to 1GBPS. They (users) have to plug it in and turn it on to install Jio AirFiber. For the installation, users must have a personal Wi-Fi hotspot connected with an ultra-high-speed internet service such as Jio True 5G.

Jio Fiber is a fiber optic based technology.
